
Ensures that all equipment is kept clean and all precautions are taken to ensure that no cross-contamination occurs between patients. Assists physicians during interventional exams by performing scans or preparing the sterile field. Works with patients, physicians, and other staff members to accommodate needed exams in a timely manner.
Understands all requirements for completing a thorough exam supporting the sonographer’s preliminary findings. Communicates findings of the exam to interpreting physician.Thoroughly understands views and settings necessary to acquire a diagnostic exam.
Has working knowledge of anatomy and physiology as demonstrated in resulting images. Effectively enlists patient assistance to vary their position in order to complete the exam. Effectively determines necessary probe arrangement to demonstrate anatomy or anatomic variations and measurements. Competently operates ultrasound equipment to generate appropriate anatomic detail supporting a diagnostic exam. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ensures the ultrasound exam is of acceptable diagnostic quality and records preliminary findings to assist in physician’s interpretations. Performs and records ultrasound diagnostic tests of all parts of the anatomy. Positions patient and adjusts ultrasound equipment to the correct setting for each examination. Operates ultrasound equipment to obtain quality ultrasonic images.
